Cadillac ELR Spare Tire

The Cadillac ELR, a luxury hybrid vehicle, does not come equipped with a traditional spare tire. Instead, in order to maintain the vehicle's performance and preserve trunk space, General Motors decided to provide the ELR with a tire inflator kit. This kit includes a sealant and a compressor that can be used to temporarily repair minor punctures. According to the manufacturer, the kit is suitable for use on all of the vehicle's tires, which are sized at 245/40R20 for the front and 275/35R20 for the rear. It should be noted that if a tire is severely damaged, an immediate replacement will be necessary due to the nature of temporary repair made by the kit. Also, the use of the inflator kit meant that the ELR has a specific tire pressure monitoring system that alerts drivers when the tire pressure drops below a certain level.

Cadillac ELR models manufactured from 2014 to 2016 have tires with overall diameter of 27.7", allowing the use of a temporary spare tire with a near same diameter as the OEM tire. Tire diameter and wheel diameter clearance have been taken into account for the specific Cadillac ELR years and trims.
