Geo Metro Spare Tire

The Geo Metro, a small economy car model produced from 1989 to 2001, comes equipped with a full-size spare tire that is identical to the regular tires on the vehicle, in order to maximize convenience and safety in the event of a tire mishap. The spare tire is typically stowed in a specially-designated space in the trunk of the vehicle and its purpose is to temporarily replace any of the car's regular tires that become damaged or flat, allowing the driver to drive the vehicle to a nearby service station for a more permanent solution. In regards to the tire type and size, the Geo Metro generally uses a P155/80R12 tire size and the most common type is all-season, which provides reliable performance under a wide range of conditions and temperatures; however, exact specifications may vary based on the year and specific model of the Geo Metro.

Geo Metro models manufactured from 1990 to 1997 have tires with overall diameter ranging from 21.1" to 22.8", allowing the use of a temporary spare tire with a near same diameter as the OEM tire. Tire diameter and wheel diameter clearance have been taken into account for the specific Geo Metro years and trims.

Listed below are compact spare tire sizes that can fit some Geo Metro vehicles based on acceptable tire diameter range of 20.5" to 23.5". Some Metro models may require the use of a traditional full-size tire as a spare. To ensure safe temporary mobility in case of a road emergency, always refer to the vehicle owner's manual for the correct Geo Metro spare tire size designated by vehicle's manufacturer.
